Software Defined Networking and Network Functions Virtualization are promising technologies to safeguard networks in a self-organizing, adaptive and scalable fashion. I currently explore possibilities for their introduction into future production plants, which will adopt cloud-computing paradigms. The approach aims at designing new security concepts to protect a production network against adversarial behaviour while offering sufficient flexibility to meet the requirements of future production processes.
