Description

In a series of laboratory experiments, participants learn to apply their theoretical knowledge from the core module Telematics in practical experiments. The lab course is therefore an excellent complement to the core module. The experiments provide hands-on experience in a wide range of topics, including protocols and algorithms for routing on the Internet, congestion control methods, access networks, and traffic engineering.

Participants also configure their own networks and are introduced to the concept of software-defined networking, a novel approach to building networks. In addition, they learn to use various tools for measuring and analyzing the behavior of the protocols and algorithms presented in practice. The observations and results are discussed in small groups. At the end of the semester, participants deepen their knowledge in a small project.
