The MeRegio project (Minimum Emission Regions) aims at developing a test region which reduces its carbon footprint by usage of modern information and communication technology. A central point in this project is the development of a "Minimum Emission" certificate which will be applied in the test region of Karlsruhe/Stuttgart. To fulfill the requirements of a more efficient energy system, modern "online"-technology will be used throughout the whole process of energy supply and energy consumption. The development of future standards plays an important role in this project.
